Jelly Dessert with Cream: Tips

Here are some helpful tips to ensure your jelly dessert with cream turns out perfectly every time:

  • Make sure your jelly is set: Ensure your jelly is fully set before cutting it into small pieces.
  • Use fresh cream: For the best flavour and texture, use fresh double cream. The cream should be chilled before whipping to achieve the perfect consistency.
  • Add the cream stabiliser: Adding a teaspoon of cream stabiliser helps the whipped cream hold its shape longer, especially if you’re preparing the dessert in advance.
  • Fruit garnish: Use fresh, ripe fruits like peaches and strawberries for the topping. Slice them just before serving.

Jelly Dessert with Cream: Substitutions

If you need to make adjustments based on what you have available or personal preferences, don’t worry! Here are some ingredient substitutions:

  • Jellies: Feel free to substitute the kiwi, cherry, and peach jellies with your favourite flavours. Strawberry, raspberry, and lime are great alternatives that can add a fun twist to the dessert.
  • Cream stabiliser: If you don’t have a cream stabiliser, you can use a small amount of unflavoured gelatine dissolved in water as an alternative to help the cream maintain its structure.
  • Double cream: If double cream is not available, you can use heavy whipping cream instead. It will still provide a rich and creamy texture.
  • Fresh fruits: Substitute peaches and strawberries with other seasonal fruits like mangoes, blueberries, or raspberries. Choose fruits that are ripe and sweet for the best results.
  • Icing sugar: Regular granulated sugar can be used in place of icing sugar, but make sure to dissolve it completely to avoid a gritty texture in the whipped cream.
